Scottish Wedding in Volterra – A Joyful Wedding in Tuscany at Le Capanne
Lauren and Jack traveled from Scotland to celebrate their unforgettable wedding in Volterra, choosing the beautiful countryside venue Le Capanne, nestled among the rolling hills near the historic city of Volterra. In the very heart of Tuscany, this stunning location offers panoramic valley views, warm stone architecture, and the authentic atmosphere that makes every wedding in Tuscany truly magical.
Even though it was already late September, the day felt like mid-summer — incredibly warm, filled with sunshine, and framed by a brilliant blue sky. The couple arrived with high expectations for their Italian celebration, and Tuscany did not disappoint.
One of the most special and striking elements of the day was the strong Scottish identity woven into the celebration. Despite the heat, the groom, the bride’s father, and many friends proudly wore traditional Scottish kilts and accessories, adding character and personality to the entire event. It created a beautiful contrast between Scottish heritage and Tuscan scenery.
The bride looked absolutely adorable in her delicate lace gown with a long flowing veil. The day began with an emotional first look with her father — the first tears of the day and a moment we will never forget capturing.
The ceremony took place under the Tuscan sun with breathtaking views over the valleys. The floral design embraced soft autumn tones — light brown, beige, muted green — with roses as the main flower, enriched by abundant greenery. It was elegant, natural, and perfectly in harmony with the landscape.
After a short but deeply emotional ceremony, guests gathered for a joyful aperitivo with Italian prosecco and delicious Tuscan appetizers. Laughter filled the air, and it was the perfect atmosphere for spontaneous reportage photography — the kind of genuine, joyful moments we love to capture as a wedding photographer in Tuscany.
We explored the many panoramic corners of Le Capanne for the couple’s portraits, taking advantage of every beautiful view the venue offers. Of course, we also had fun photographing the bride and groom with their lively group of friends, creating vibrant and playful memories.
Dinner was filled with smiles and heartfelt speeches, but one of the most unforgettable highlights was a surprise mini-concert by a live band from Rome. They performed traditional Italian songs, making guests laugh, sing, and even play along. It was an incredible surprise that brought strong emotions and gave us truly spectacular images.
At sunset, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to capture the golden hour — the soft Tuscan light created a dreamy atmosphere for additional couple portraits. As night fell, the celebration continued with live music, cake cutting accompanied by the band, and the romantic first dance.
The party became even more vibrant thanks to a live saxophonist, turning the evening into an unforgettable celebration full of energy and joy.
This Scottish-Tuscan celebration was everything a wedding photographer in Italy could wish for — sunshine, emotion, personality, laughter, and unforgettable light. A truly magical wedding in Tuscany that will stay in our hearts.
